Thank you central PA!

Wow, is all I can say about my first book signing at Barnes and Noble! I am so grateful for all of you who came out to hear me speak and to purchase my book. I couldn’t believe every time I looked up how many more faces I saw in the crowd. You were a beautiful group of people and so encouraging for me as the author! Thank you so very much. We had over 100 people packed into that area of the book store last night. Barnes and Noble ran out of books!!!! Now there is a problem any author wants to have!!!

Top of the morning to ya!

Sorry I couldn’t resist…I am like a 1/3 Irish so I had to represent. I just got back from the Writers at the Beach Conference in Rehoboth Delaware. I don’t think I can even find words that can express how energizing, wonderful, educational, inspiring and rejuvenating this whole trip was…oh hey look, I just found some words! It was all that a bag of green colored chips.

Radio, TV and American Idol

Happy Friday Everyone!

I totally missed American Idol last night and am so bummed to hear that Alexandrea got kicked off! I loved her!!! So unfair. I was in the WITF-TV studio doing the Smart Talk program instead, which was great. I had to laugh when I realized they had the first half hour dedicated to the electric company and then had me on talking about the book. Odd combo! It was an electrical storm in the WITF studios last night!! ha!

I was also on the Windy City Queer Cast last night in Chicago. Wondering, how I ended up live in a studio in Harrisburg and on the air in Chicago? The beauty of technology. The Chicago show was taped a couple weeks ago and you can check it out here. Amy and Peter were great!

Next up…onto the Writers Conference in Rehoboth Delaware. I cannot wait to be at the beach, I have missed it so much. I cannot wait to wake up early and hit the boardwalk for a nice long run and then enjoy a nice cup of strong coffee while watching the waves crash over the sand. That to me…utter heaven!

Maybe I will see you there? www.writersatthebeach.com

There is no such thing as an accidental overdose…

Ike Turner, Brad Refeno and now Heath Ledger…sad…tragic….unthinkable…

To call any one of these deaths an accidental overdose flies directly in the face of the reality of addiction. As a recovering addict for more than ten years, I can tell you there is nothing accidental about an addict’s choice to overmedicate. It is in fact the inherent nature of the disease. To call it accidental just goes to further prove how little society understands about addiction. No addict takes a drink, pill or drug without absolute and solid intent. The intent is most likely not suicide or a desire to die, rather, to escape and run away. Read On
