To call any one of these deaths an accidental overdose flies directly in the face of the reality of addiction. As a recovering addict for more than ten years, I can tell you there is nothing accidental about an addict’s choice to overmedicate. It is in fact the inherent nature of the disease. To call it accidental just goes to further prove how little society understands about addiction. No addict takes a drink, pill or drug without absolute and solid intent. The intent is most likely not suicide or a desire to die, rather, to escape and run away. Read On

I apologize for my lapse in posting a new blog here! I have been engulfed in holiday activities and travels. I am happy to report that my book has hit the warehouse and will begin arriving in your local book stores all over the country in the upcoming weeks. If you ordered on Amazon they will ship soon as well.

If you don’t see my book in your local book store—REQUEST IT!!!! Order a copy and tell your friends to do the same. The more requests the book store gets the more copies they will order! I am hoping to begin some book related travel soon. I will be at The Pennsylvania State University on February 1^st, 2008 at 7:00 PM in the Pattee Library in Foster Auditorium. If you find yourself in State College that Friday night please stop by. I will be speaking and reading from the book. I will also be signing books!!!!

I realize I am about a week or so behind on this whole giving thanks thing but I need to give a huge thank you to some incredible people and companies who have really helped me and been so supportive through this whole book ordeal. The book goes to print this Friday and it has been one hellava process. This is my virtual shout out to the peeps who have stuck by me so far and supported the hell out of me!

Today I have ten years clean and sober.

Ten years of shifting, screaming, cleaning, laughing, crying, changing, dealing, unveiling, processing, living…ten years of it all the good and the bad.

Ten years without the reliance on a mind or mood altering substance to deal with life on life’s terms.

Ten years of brutal honesty and rebuilding of self.

Ten years of gaining back trust of those I injured during the previous ten years.
