Here's hoping Lindsay received those memoirs you sent her. What I really don't understand though, is the California justice system. At first they show understanding and send the addicts to rehab instead of jail, but then, if relapse occurs (a common and accepted part of recovery) they say jail for 180 days? Also, shame on Fox News for their 'Lindsay will get raped in jail' prediction. As if saying, this is what you get as punishment for being out and proud. Oh, I'm sure a 'lesbian gang' would do that...I think it's far more likely that if one does exist in LA county jail it's to PROTECT lesbians from abuse due to their increased risk of abuse from other inmates and staff memebers. And that really is a good point about how there need to be more safe and non-alcoholic LGBT venues and events out there. The Dinah, Pride, Mardi Gras, cruises, clubs...are the only options in most cities for lesbians and they all revolve around alcohol - and - in my experience - a lot of it.

Jennifer, I so agree with your post. I didn't see the whole Oprah show but a large portion and I felt that MacKenzie Phillips was uncomfortable, thoughtful, and trying to say just the right words because she knew there would be disbelief and horror. But I also feel that in order for her to heal, to survive, others need to hear her story. Some of those others could be in the same situation and it is only by writing about it and talking about it that people will recover and try to live normal lives. Thanks for your insight into this taboo subject.

Recovery gave Adam 11 more years on this earth. He did amazing, astonishing things with that time. Still, he is gone. And still an inspiration. Those 11 years were hard won.

It's good to know that I wasn't the only one living a clean but happy life during college years. Peer pressure then was pretty fierce and if you don't do what they do you're considered boring already. Thank you.

Thanks for a vote of confidence for those who need it. You are a strong example of one's determination to succeed despite the odds, especially at a party school. I have a neice going this fall and I will have her and her mom read this---it is supportive and uplifting at the same time. Can't wait to read your next book, Leave the Light On. Keep on writing and advocating for a healthy sober life.

I love you book Ms. Storm. Your truly influenced my life in ways unimaginable. But you had to say about love is completely true; it took me a lot of time and retracing my steps of my mind's blue prints to realize this knowledge. Thank you, take care.
